TRPC Rifle Competitor At National Matches

At the 2021 National Rifle Matches this year, Texas sent a strong team including TRPC member John Ilzihoefer. In The National Trophy Rifle Team Match, competing against both military and civilian teams, Texas was third overall, repeating as the Soldier Of Marathon civilian team winner with team Captain- John Ilzihoefer.
Next up was the National Infantry Trophy Team Match, again, with Texas third overall and claiming The Leather Neck civilian team trophy with John Ilzihoefer competing. Due John coaching the winning civilian National Trophy Team he was also named Team Captain to The 2021 Elihu Root Team made up of the high civilian competitors for the matches. Providing assistance during these team matches was our own rifle director, Mark Turner.

Roy Plumlee Coaches Juniors To National Championship

Supporting the 2021 TSRA junior pistol team at Camp Perry this year was our own Roy Plumlee. The following is his report. The team consisted of four juniors who were allowed to shoot all three team matches with .22 pistols. The "Texas" juniors won their team match "class". The young shooters required almost no "coaching." The team consisted of two male and two female shooters. One of the male shooters is a regular at our bullseye matches. The team captain was a 16 yr. old girl who was already in college. The other girl's father was a shooter whose pistol sport was international rapid fire. She was a small girl who shot one of her father's pistols, It was an interesting experience. I have coached many adult teams both rifle and pistol. This one was the easiest and most interesting by far.

Smallbore Records Fall At TRPC

The smallbore competitions at TRPC consist of either conventional prone (160 shots) and metric prone (120 shots), both fired at distances of 50 yards and 100 yards (results are segregated according to the sighting system – iron sights or telescopic sights). The key difference is that the metric targets have scoring rings that are about ½ the size of the conventional targets.

The June 2021 match witnessed four records being re-written by Alan Wilson – records which Gene Pohlmann had owned since 2011.

Metric Aggregate (Scoped Rifle) – 1176–48X

Metric 50-Meter Aggregate (Scoped Rifle) – 394-17X

Metric 300-Meter Aggregate (Scoped Rifle) – 392-13X

Individual Target, Metric 300-Meter (Scoped Rifle) – 197-9X

Each of these records are new Range Records, as well as Club Records.
